MENA-OECD Ministerial Week – Governance Forum
30 – 31 March 2021

The International Conference “Vision for Recovery in MENA. Digital governance for more open, accessible and efficient public service” will be held online on 31 March 2021 with the participation of Prof. Renato BRUNETTA, Italian Minister for Public Administration, Ms. Hasna BEN SLIMANE, Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Civil Service, Tunisia, and Mr. Jeffrey Schlagenhauf, Deputy Secretary- General, OECD. The conference will see high level experts discussing how digital technologies improve the quality of public services and public administration, focusing on the needs of MENA countries needs for post-COVID-19 recovery. 60 Anni Ocse

To mark the 60th anniversary of the OECD Convention, the Permanent Representation of Italy to International Organisations in Paris has published “L’Italia e i 60 Anni dell’OCSE” (Italy and 60 Years in the OECD).  The volume looks at the history and role of the OECD through the narratives of some of the key Italian players who have been involved in the organisation over the years, together with a contribution on the activities of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme Training Centre by Maurizio Mensi, the current executive director of the Centre.

Youth and Covid-19: leaving no one behind 15 September 2020

Young people’s trust in government has halted in the MENA region: only 32% of young people expressed trust in their national government across 12 countries in 2018. In the face of socio-economic challenges, administrative corruption and inadequate public services, youth-led protests spread in numerous countries across the MENA region in 2019.

MENA-OECD Governance Webinar on Youth and COVID-19: Response, Recovery and Resilience, 7 May 2020

The world is tackling the COVID-19 global health emergency and its economic and social impact that disrupted nearly all aspects of life in an unprecedented manner for everyone in society. However, the current crisis as well as the measures implemented by governments affect different groups in society in distinct ways. For young people, and especially vulnerable youth, the COVID-19 crisis poses considerable risks in the field of education and employment, mental health and disposable income, and others. The recovery measures will also have long-term economic, social and environmental consequences that young people and future generations will have to live with.
