The MENA-OECD Governance Programme Centre, in collaboration with the OECD’s Reform of the Public Sector Division, hosted the Open Data Seminar as part of its efforts to build capacity across governments of the MENA region in order to foster a culture of openness and good governance, supporting innovative solutions to regional and country-specific challenges.

Open government data (OGD) provides governments with new opportunities to deliver economic, social and good governance value. However, OGD requires that governments develop institutional frameworks and capacities to create dynamic OGD ecosystems that support data-driven innovation, while managing the risks associated with open data.

The seminar took place from 18 to 21 October 2015 in the premises of the Centre and was addressed to government representatives from Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Lebanon, all of whom are involved in their national open data programmes.
